Take a full day to slow down, recharge, and connect with the beauty of the natural world through watercolor and journaling. In this guided yet flexible retreat, you’ll combine painting, sketching, writing, and even numbers to create dynamic and personal journal pages.
This class is beginner-friendly but also rich enough for experienced artists wanting to deepen their practice. You’ll leave with completed pages in your nature journal, along with tools and techniques you can continue using in your daily life.
🌿 Retreat Schedule
🖌️ 10:00–10:30 – Welcome & Intention Setting
Settle into the space, meet fellow participants, and choose your focus for the day. We’ll talk about slowing down, noticing details, and approaching the natural world with curiosity.
🖌️ 10:30–11:15 – Mini Session #1: Outdoor Observation Walk
Head outside to sketch, paint, and record what you see in nature. Practice simple drawing techniques and quick studies to capture leaves, textures, and seasonal details.
🖌️ 11:15–12:00 – Open Journaling Time
Return to the studio and build on your sketches with color and notes.
🖌️ 12:00–12:45 – Lunch (indoors, relaxed)
Bring your own lunch. Snacks provided.
🖌️ 12:45–1:30 – Mini Session #2: Words, Pictures & Numbers
Discover how to combine sketches, descriptive writing, reflective notes, and even numbers (like dates, counts, and measurements) to create lively and informative journal pages.
🖌️ 1:30–2:30 – Open Studio Painting Time
Apply what you’ve learned in your journal, with guidance available.
🖌️ 2:30–3:00 – Mini Session #3: Watercolor Layers, Color Mixing & Tombow Markers
Learn to build up color washes, blend natural greens, and add depth to leaves, skies, and landscapes. Explore how to combine Tombow brush pens with watercolors for vibrant layers and mixed-media effects.
🖌️ 3:00–3:50 – Final Journaling Time + Optional Sharing Circle
Time to finish pages and, if you wish, share your favorite page or discovery from the day.
🖌️ 3:50–4:00 – Closing Reflections
Wrap-up and suggestions for continuing your nature journaling practice.
