Watercolor Beyond the Basics
A Skill-Building Class on Premium 100% Cotton Paper
Ready to level up your watercolor skills and create artwork with depth and confidence?
This class is designed for students who have taken Watercolor 101 or who have been experimenting at home and are ready to refine their technique.
In this one-night workshop, we’ll work exclusively on premium 100% cotton watercolor paper, the surface professional watercolorists use. Cotton paper behaves differently from student-grade paper and allows richer blending, smoother transitions, and more refined details.
In this session, you’ll:
Work on 100% Cotton Watercolor Paper
Experience the difference as we explore how paint moves slowly and beautifully across cotton paper. You’ll learn how to use its absorbency to your advantage.
Build Precision Through Brushwork
Practice creating crisp edges, small details, and controlled shapes. We’ll work through brush drills that help you paint what you intend — not what the paint decides.
Master Softness and Lost Edges
Learn how to paint subtle edges and transitions — essential skills for botanicals, animals, and landscapes. We’ll focus on creating softness intentionally, not accidentally.
Practice Layering for Depth and Dimension
Work through a guided project where we build layers slowly to create a realistic and dimensional subject (project options below).
Apply What You’ve Learned
Choose from three project paths:
Delicate Winter Berries (crisp edges + glazing)
Soft Evergreen Sprig (lost edges + subtle texture)
Minimalist Snowy Landscape (atmosphere + intentional simplicity)
Each project is designed to help you trust yourself, your brush, and your artistic voice.
This class focuses on slowing down, observing, and building control—while still keeping watercolor enjoyable and expressive.
